Asamoah Gyah, Celestine Babayaro, Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho among 12 great stars who went bankrupt

 In a 12-man list of players who went bankrupt on Soccer Laduma and cited in SunSport, the former left full-back at Stamford Bridge and St James' Park in the 2000s was wealthy during his playing days. But by January 2011, the defender was declared bankrupt on the public record of the London Gazette.

Other players in the list include Diego Maradona who passed away on November 25 at the age of 60.

The Italian Tax Authority demanded he pays back £42million worth of unpaid taxes from his time playing for Napoli in the 1980s. Also, it was further gathered in 2018 that Brazilian legend, Ronaldinho had just five pounds in his bank account and was in debt to the tune of £1.75million. He mortgaged his property and despite that, he could not pay up the debts and the presiding judge ordered the seizure of his passport. 

Ronaldinho’s problems took a new turn earlier in the year when he was arrested and imprisoned in Paraguay for entering the country with fake documents.
